Automatic Fire Systems, Inc. is a family-owned business with deep roots in fire protection. Established in 1981, we bring over 40 years of experience to every job, ensuring top-quality fire safety solutions. Robert Korte founded Automatic Fire Systems, Inc. out of his garage in Rockford, IL, driven by a commitment to quality and safety. Through hard work and dedication, he transformed a small operation into a trusted name in fire suppression services.

As the company grew, he quickly outgrew the garage and basement office, leading Robert to relocate to a larger facility in Loves Park, IL. As demand continued to rise, he built their own building located in Machesney Park, IL, to accommodate its expanding operations, later adding an extension to support further growth.

Kurt began working for the company in 1983, learning the trade directly from his father, Robert. Over the years, he honed his expertise in fire protection, ultimately earning a NICET Level IV certification—a testament to his dedication and proficiency in the field.

In 2004, the torch was officially passed when Kurt and his wife, Penni, purchased the company from his parents, continuing the family legacy. Robert officially retired in 2006, leaving behind a foundation built on excellence and integrity. Under new leadership, Automatic Fire Systems, Inc. has continued to evolve, incorporating modern fire protection methods while adhering to the highest local, state, and national fire safety standards.

In addition to fire protection, the company has expanded to include a full-service plumbing department. Whether it’s fire suppression systems or essential plumbing installations and maintenance, our team ensures that every system we design, install, and service meets the highest industry standards, including NFPA 13. From installation to final certification, we take pride in upholding quality, providing courteous service, and striving to build long-term relationships with our customers.
